چکیده

Induction of oxidative stress and possible involvement of antioxidants in rice (Oryza sativa L) leaves after in vivo treatment with hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2) was investigated. Degradation of chlorophyll, carotenoid and protein contents in rice leaves was observed which showed a recovery under free radical scavenger treatments. An increase in both total peroxide accumulation and lipid peroxidation was observed with increasing H 2 O 2 concentrations whereas lipid peroxidation decreased under free radical scavenger treatments. A gradual decrease in SOD and GPx activity as well as an increase in CAT and GR activities were recorded under H 2 O 2 treatments. In addition, proline accumulation accompanied by a decrease in ascorbate and glutahione content was observed in senescing rice leaves under H 2 O 2 treatments.

Oxidative markers in five Iranian alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cultivars under salinity stress . Nader Chaparzadeh1* and Faramarz Mehrnejad2

Five alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) cultivars from different areas of Iran were evaluated for oxidative markers under salinity conditions. Plants were grown in hydroponic condition by Hoagland nutrient solution containing different amounts of NaCl (control, 50 and 100 mM). Relative growth rate, membrane stability, lipid peroxidation, proline, hydrogen peroxide and relative water contents were dete...

Study of antioxidant defense genes expression profile pattern of rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars in response to drought stress

Drought stress is one of the important factors that restrict crop production in the world. This study was conducted to investigate defense gene expression in response to drought stress, and also to evaluate the drought tolerance and its mechanism in rice cultivars based on randomized complete block design in two separate environments (drought stress and non-stress). The rice cultivars used incl...

Role of Salicylic Acid in Regulating Cadmium Induced Oxidative Stress in Oryza Sativa L. Roots

In the present investigation we studied the role of salicylic acid in cadmium induced physiological and biochemical changes and the possible induction of oxidative stress in developing rice roots. 24h cadmium treatment resulted in the inhibition of root dry biomass, root elongation and increased cadmium accumulation in roots. Salicylic acid presoaking for 16hrs resulted in protection against ca...

Enhanced expression of alternative oxidase genes is involved in the tolerance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings to drought stress.

Drought stress significantly enhanced the capacity of the alternative respiratory pathway and induced AOX1a and AOX1b transcripts in rice seedling leaves. The drought-stressed seedlings pretreated with the inhibitor of the alternative respiratory pathway, 1 mM salicylhydroxamic acid, had a lower level of relative water content than the seedlings either subjected to drought or salicylhydroxamic ...

Protective effect of exogenous nitric oxide on alleviation of oxidative damage induced by high salinity in rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings

To find the protective role of exogenous nitric oxide (NO) on salinity-stressed rice seedlings, a CRD-based factorial experiment with three replications was conducted in Agronomy Laboratory of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of Guilan, in 2012. The experimental design consisted of healthy and vigorous seedlings of two rice cultivars, Khazar and Goohar, the last already known as...
